Wet Sumping, Anti Sump, Oil Pipe Tap
A solution to a frequent problem of wet-sumping.
On many of the older classic bikes, the oil pump and/or non-return ball-valve is worn, or leaks, causing the oil tank to gradually drain all the oil into the engine sump, over time. This can be a problem with starting, causing hydraulic lock and resulting in severe damage.
This on-off tap can be installed in the oil feed pipe line.
Internal bore diameter of tap inlet: 1/4" (6.5mm)
Suit 3/8" pipe id. - it will fit 5/16" id pipe, but it is a very tight fit.
There is sufficient material on the spigot to reduce the od size a little, if required.
Remember to turn it on before starting the engine!
Some users position the tap so that when off, it blocks the kick-start lever, preventing starting whilst in the off position.
Note: You will need to use some PTFE tape or something similar to seal the threads!
NEW! - see our switched oil tap, link below or search: wet sumping tap
